FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to see Dr Amod?

No – Panorama Eye welcomes both self-referred patients and those referred by an optometrist or GP.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Your ID document, medical aid card, a referral letter if you have one, and a list of your current glasses prescription and medication.

Will my eyes be dilated, and can I drive afterwards?

Your pupils may be dilated as part of your examination, which can temporarily blur your vision and increase light sensitivity. We recommend arranging for someone to drive you home afterwards.

Does Panorama Eye accept my medical aid?

Consultations require payment upfront on the day, with the patient responsible for claiming back from their medical aid directly. For surgery, Panorama Eye welcomes patients across the major medical aid and gap cover schemes, billed directly to your scheme – as cover varies by plan and procedure, please confirm your specific medical aid and gap cover benefits before your surgery.

What should I do in an eye emergency?

For urgent or emergency eye problems outside of normal consulting hours, please seek immediate care at your nearest emergency room or eye hospital casualty unit.

What care should I expect after surgery?

You will be given specific post-operative instructions after your procedure, including any medication, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointment details.
